The fine print
- What this compares. Your current average power bill of $190 a month against your solar loan payment over 25 years. The utility is escalated at 7.5% per year. The loan payment does not escalate, it is fixed at $274.56 a month for all 300 months of the term.
- Your Illinois incentives. The proposal estimates $15,656 in Illinois SRECs and $4,731 from the Illinois Small DG Customer-Owned Project Adder, both yours because you own the system. The $274.56 monthly payment shown already has the SREC amount applied to the loan, which is why it is lower than it would otherwise be, so only the $4,731 adder is added to the savings total above. Both figures are estimates and depend on the program, your production and reporting.
- Still connected to the grid. You are still connected to the utility grid and would be expected to pay a small fixed monthly rate, considered the standard connection fee.
